White House: Children Should Go Back to School Even If Studies Show They Spread Coronavirus

Children still should go back to school even if it turns out that they are transmitting the deadly novel coronavirus that has claimed more than 140,000 U.S. lives, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said on Friday.

President Donald Trump is pushing to re-open U.S. schools, which abruptly shuttered this past spring when the coronavirus first began spreading across the country – despite teachers’ and families’ concerns that children could contract or transmit the disease should they return to classrooms.

“Even if there is transmission and later studies come out, let’s say, we believe that students should be going back to school because the effect on a child we know – scientifically, they are not affected in the same way as an adult,” McEnany said in answer to a press briefing question about comments made by Dr. Deborah Birx, a member of the White House coronavirus task force, about how the disease behaves in small children.

Birx told the television program “Today” on Friday that it is “still an open question” how rapidly children under the age of 10 spread the illness. She cited a South Korean study that children younger than 10 transmit the virus less, while those older than 10 have the same rates of passing it as adults. Birx also said that children with underlying conditions can “suffer terrible consequences” if they contract the disease.

  1. Come on everybody…sacrifice the health of your children so the economy will do good and tRump will get reelected. I’m on board and plan on getting a hefty life insurance policy for the little buggers…

  2. GC: Transposing one letter in my name is nothing, heaven knows it’s better than Calamari, the name given to me by The College Board 30+ years ago. It followed me for damn near ten years, I’ll take Clara any day of the week.

  3. The best way to get rid of African Americans,

Latinos, poor Caucasians, and immigrants is

have their children get sick and die.

  4. “Parents know their kids health and needs and are capable of knowing what is best for them.” Linda

In this crazy country, too many parents need to work too many jobs for them to have the spare time to take to do research like this.

We need to do better than this.

  5. The school that the Cheeto von Tweeto’s own son attends, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, has said it won’t be re-opening in the fall. Laughable if it wasn’t such a disgrace.

  6. Antibodies is just one of several responses by the immune system when confronting a pathogen. There are different types of White Blood cells, macrophages, T cells B cells and other defenses. The body has an army of fighters just like the armed forces have in warfare. Testing is looking at just the antibodies, but with Covid-19 there seems to be some prior immunity with corona virus involving T and B cells scientist are finding. Parents know their kids health and needs and are capable of knowing what is best for them. Each school district and area they are in will be considered by the parents as well. Wealthier parents can afford other options, while less wealthy have no other option. All parents should have a options.

  7. You are still confused, Clara.

As far as we can tell, there is no lasting herd immunity with the Trump Virus. As I have said a few times, data shows that at between 2 and 3 months after being declared free of the Trump Virus, anti-bodies start to decline.

Until there is a good vaccine remedy, we MUST be careful, because herd immunity for the Trump Virus is a myth.

  8. I suppose this is one way to begin the “herd immunity” so medically desired and so vital to the human race.

  9. Good advice, Phyllis. Working class people working 3 jobs just to make ends meet may struggle finding the time to do that kind of research, though.

That’s why we need better politicians, so that we have a better administration and infrastructure, to help people.

    We MUST elect better politicians.

  10. For parents considering returning their children to the classroom, consider the COVID status in YOUR area, the procedures in place, and safety measures that will be instituted. Ask questions of your local superintendent as to what the procedure will be if during the school year a student, aide, or teacher tests positive for COVID. Will the others in the class be quarantined at their homes and are on-line teaching arrangements already in place if your child should need to be taught on-line during the quarantine. The parents will need to also have access to arrangements at home if that should occur.

ALSO, keep in mind that it was THIS White House that claimed it would be safe to return to church by Easter Sunday and that was revised to a May 22nd EO opening all churches. That did not end well for all churches. The Greensburg Diocese had to close several Catholic churches in SW Pennsylvania in June and July when the priests and parishioners were found to have COVID.

  11. Putting mostly lower income Caucasian, Latino,

African American, and immigrant children in danger

of severe illness and death is a great way to get rid of

the people the FASCIST TRAITOR hates.

He’s not calling for the school his son attends

to fully open as it will be offering virtual classes

only. Children of rich, self important assholes cannot

    be put in danger.
