‘Wow!’: Trump Thanks Iranian Protestors for Not Stepping on ‘Our Great American Flag’

As protests continued in Iran over the accidental downing of Ukrainian International Airlines Flight 752, a video surfaced of demonstrators avoiding a portion of the road where someone had painted the American and Israeli flags.

After seeing the video, President Donald Trump tweeted his appreciation to the demonstrators for, mostly, avoiding the American flag.

“Wow! The wonderful Iranian protesters refused to step on, or in any way denigrate, our Great American Flag. It was put on the street in order for them to trample it, and they walked around it instead. Big progress!”‘

This new round of protests broke out after the government denied, then accepted responsibility for the crash of Flight 752 — which killed all 176 people on board including several Iranian citizens.

In a display of anger toward the government for shooting down the aircraft, protestors took to the street with chants of “Death to the dictator” as they called for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to step down.

A separate video showed a group of Iranians tearing down and ripping apart a poster of Khamenei.

Trump voiced his support of the protestors in several tweets over the weekend.

“To the brave, long-suffering people of Iran: I’ve stood with you since the beginning of my Presidency, and my Administration will continue to stand with you. We are following your protests closely, and are inspired by your courage.”

Additionally, Trump warned Iran’s leaders against reacting harshly to the demonstrations saying, “the World is watching,” and urged the government to lift restrictions on reporters and restore internet access.

Trump’s tweet comes amid reports that the Iranian government has cut off access to the internet in some portions of the country.

Reports also said that Iranian security forces used teargas and live ammunition to disperse the crowds Tehran, but the city’s police chief denied that any shots were fired.

On Monday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said he would introduce a resolution expressing the United States’ support of the protesters.

  1. Paint one of those flags in front of the House of Representatives and take away the cameras. There’s be more Democrat jack boot prints on the “Stars and Stripes” than white on rice.

  2. They show more respect for our flag than the liberal idiots here. We did them a favor in killing that terrorist. we save a lot of lives.

  3. softy- my mother once told me that THE STUPIDEST people on the face of the Earth are the ones that talk down to people who are OBVIOUSLY smarter than them. Thanks for proving my mother’s point with your comment, “Iranian cultural sites—that would be sites the Iranian people have historical significance.” Like anybody here needed an explanation of what a cultural site is. once again, thank you. D-K AND TDS must be terrible to deal with at the same time. My God I’m glad I don’t spend much time here anymore.

    1. I wondered where you’ve been. The IJR is like a train wreck that you don’t want to see but watch anyway!

  4. Again, SyPhyilis, your TDS disease interferes with any cogent thought you may have.. There’s no difference between any Iranian citizen getting cross examined for their backgrounds than any US citizen when crossing into our border. Your bias toward a sworn enemy of the USA is disgusting!! You deserve to wear a hijab and live over there, you disgusting POS.

  5. >Phyllis Softa<

Please explain the difference between Trump destroying a TERRORIST Nation's cultural sites and the anti-American TERRORISTS (home grown as in Black Lives Matter, Antifa, et al funded by George Soros) here destroying OUR statutes of history making individuals.

  6. Most people in Iran are good people. It’s the fanatics in charge that are the problem.

    1. Make up your mind! Trumpers were in full force support of Trump’s ban of residents of 7 countries from entering America—IRAN was at the top of the list! Just last week Trump was threatening to bomb Iranian cultural sites—that would be sites the Iranian people have historical significance. Now “Most people in Iran are good people.” You don’t ban them all if you believe “It’s the fanatics in charge that are the problem.” Make America SANE Again.
