Tributes Flow in After Ruth Bader Ginsburg Dies at Age of 87

Tributes are pouring in after the news broke of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death on Friday.

The Supreme Court made known that Ginsburg died, surrounded by family members, due to complications of metastatic pancreas cancer.

Hundreds of people gathered together outside the Supreme Court on Friday evening, where they chanted, “RBG! RBG!”

President Donald Trump also paid respect to Ginsburg, as he told reporters, “She led an amazing life. Whether you agree or not, she was an amazing woman who led an amazing life.”

In a statement, the president wrote, “May her memory be a great and magnificent blessing to the world.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) noted that the flags were flying half staff over the U.S. Capitol.

“The loss of Ruth Bader Ginsburg is devastating,” Pelosi wrote in a statement. “Justice Ginsburg embodied justice, brilliance and goodness, and her passing is an incalculable loss for our democracy and for all who sacrifice and strive to build a better future for our children.”

“We must honor Justice Ginsburg’s trailblazing career and safeguard her powerful legacy by ensuring that the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court upholds her commitment to equality, opportunity and justice for all.”

2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden also said of Ginsburg, “She was an American hero, a giant of legal doctrine, and a relentless voice in the pursuit of that highest American ideal: Equal Justice Under Law.”

“Ruth Bader Ginsburg fought to the end, through her cancer, with unwavering faith in our democracy and its ideals. That’s how we remember her. But she also left instructions for how she wanted her legacy to be honored,” former President Barack Obama wrote in a statement.

He noted:

“Over a long career on both sides of the bench — as a relentless litigator and an incisive jurist — Justice Ginsburg helped us see that discrimination on the basis of sex isn’t about an abstract ideal of equality; that it doesn’t only harm women; that it has real consequences for all of us. It’s about who we are — and who we can be.”

There were several reactions that flowed in on social media, including from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who wrote, “Justice Ginsburg paved the way for so many women, including me. There will never be another like her. Thank you RBG.”

  1. Paul, if the baby is born then its no longer an abortion discussion. You’re not going to get any argument from me on a viable baby that is born should live.

I thought we were talking about abortion rights.

  2. Phoenix please explain to me how a baby born 4 months premature and lives is not considered to be a living human being and can be aborted?

It is you who are picking scenarios to justify your position.

Facts are facts on when life begins and you can’t change that to suit your beliefs.

  3. Paul, I’m aware. I know also why abortions actually occur. You’re taking one scenario, and applying that to all abortions as though all women who get them even want them. Your unwillingness to actually understand this topic is whats disgusting.

  4. “give verifiable sources for all your claims.” Lying Paul The Emeffer

Why? Are YOU incredulous at learning about something new, uncomfortable that is outside of your cozy little bubble? I am SHOCKED, Iz tells you! I am sorry to hear that both of your hands are in casts and your Google Assistant is broken, too. So sorry…

“Your claims are assnine.” Lying Paul The Emeffer

No, YOU, have no idea what the real world is really like. None whatsoever.

The next time that your maid comes by, maybe he can enter these words into your favorite search engine for you: origin evangelical racism anti-abortion civil rights

    Happy reading, my lazy buddy!

  5. “you ought to see what actually happens during an abortion” Lying Paul The Emeffer

Something tells me that you actually know very little about the subject, Lying Paul The Emeffer.

  6. Phoenix you ought to see what actually happens during an abortion.

In your deranged mind when does mind when does life begin?

ABC news this week had a clip about a baby born 4 months premature who was deaf the baby is now over a year old and was fitted with some type of hearing device and the baby heard her mother’s voice for the first time. Yet this baby could have been aborted.

Your excuses for abortion leave a lot to be desired.

  7. Phoenix: pro-lifers, especially the dogmatic ones, think of abortion as a way of controlling the dirty, poor “others”, especially the non-white “others”. Wealthier conservatives and those with more power have no problem crossing state lines or, for that matter, leaving the country, to have their abortions, so wealth and power definitely are a part of this formula. And, as you witnessed here, so is misogyny. If a woman has to work, maybe more than one job just to survive, and doesn’t have access to a car, it is much more difficult to leave a pro-life state to do what she needs. (HWB: no, YOU don’t have any say in what she needs or wants just as I don’t have a say in what you need or want, but isn’t what YOU said, is it? No, it wasn’t.)

We all can remember the “Republican” hypocritical politicians who didn’t let a few “moral values” get in the way of them getting what they want, including abortions for wives and/or mistresses. Maybe that would be when HWB gets up on his big hind horse and self-rightiously screams RINO.

Always keep in mind. Phoenix, that these people want to dogmatically control “others”, especially the “others” of color. To them, it doesn’t rely on logic, such as how a woman’s body is designed and how errors within it can happen. They can talk it up in many ways, but the essence it all always boils down to their control and power of “others”, directly or indirectly.

  8. Paul – you’re thinking of abortion in a very narrow view. I’m actually horrified you feel a woman’s rights are forfeit the second she becomes pregnant.

She most move forward with the pregnancy even if it puts her health at risk? Even if the baby isn’t viable? Do you understand the topic enough to even draw ethical lines?

  9. SMDH

YOU were the one who brought up the unborn. I was the one who pointed out YOUR hypocrisy over YOUR subject.

People like YOU are sooo tiring.

  10. “No tributes for the unborn ripped up.” Lying Paul The Emeffer

I am confused, Lying Paul The Emeffer.

Where was your outrage this week after we learned about the forced hysterectomies on women by this government? This is, effectively, eugenics. And you have NOTHING to say? Why is that, Lying Paul The Emeffer?
