Obama Says He Does Not Always Take Trump’s Attacks on Him ‘Personally or Seriously’

Former President Barack Obama (D) sat down with CBS News’ Gayle King to respond to President Donald Trump’s frequent criticisms of him.

“Donald Trump often raises eyebrows when he says he’s done more for Black America and people of color,” King said.

“Yes. Yes, it does raise eyebrows, you are correct!” Obama replied.

King asked Obama if he takes Trump’s comments as an insult to himself or the things he accomplished while he was in office.

“I think it’s fair to say that there are many things he says that I do not take personally or seriously, although I think they can often be destructive and harmful,” Obama said.

Watch his remarks below:

Trump suggested Obama was campaigning for him while he was on the campaign trail for President-elect Joe Biden, as IJR previously reported.

“Obama is campaigning for us. Every time he speaks, people come over to our side. He didn’t even want to endorse Sleepy Joe. Did so long after primaries were over!” Trump wrote in a Twitter post.

On the campaign trail, Obama accused Trump of being “jealous of COVID’s media coverage,” as IJR previously reported.

He also criticized the president for threatening to fire Dr. Anthony Fauci if he were reelected.

“They’ve already said they’re not going to contain the pandemic. Now they want to fire the one person who can actually help them contain the pandemic,” Obama said.

The former president torched Trump’s Republican colleagues for failing to speak out against his allegations of widespread voter fraud.

“That has been disappointing. But, it’s been sort of par for the course during these four years,” Obama said.

He continued, “They obviously didn’t think there was any fraud going on cause they didn’t say anything for two days.”

Trump again refused to concede the election on Sunday.

  1. “When they tell you they are going to flip R districts/states to JD representation, have you asked them which ones they have successfully done so?” Phyllis

Both Katie Porter (CA-45) and Mark Levin (Daryl Issa) ran on a progressive platform and flipped American Fascist red districts, so it CAN be done. A major portion of the JD’s mandate is to clean out the corrupt and lazy old guard in the Democratic Party, too, and they ARE doing that, albeit slower than I had hoped that they could. 2021 will be interesting to watch.

All progressives who back M4A handily won re-election and all of those Democrats who lost or struggled to win did not. That should teach the conservative and corporate-backed Democrats something, but rest assured that it won’t. This battle will continue.

  2. General,
When R’s said they would “Repeal and Replace Obamacare” while Obama was still in the WH, did you believe them? Did you hear ANY R politician give details of the replacement plan? Did you do the math for the votes to repeal? Did you witness a single member of conservative media or townhall attendees ASK? Did you hear anyone ASK Trump for his healthcare plan?

For 8 years FOX News claimed Obama was “the worst” POTUS—Historians ranked him 12th BEST in 2017.

And when a JD tells you that he/she has the votes for their fantasies, have you asked them to name them? When they tell you they are going to flip R districts/states to JD representation, have you asked them which ones they have successfully done so?

  3. “I think it’s fair to say that there are many things he says that I do not take personally or seriously” President Obama

That is the problem with Democrats. They rarely take serious threats seriously. When a fascist tells you beforehand what he is going to do, you really should take him at his word.
