Mexican President Says ‘We Don’t Want to Fight’ After Trump Repeats Border Wall Claim

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Wednesday “we don’t want to fight”, responding to reports that U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday repeated his claim that Mexico is paying for a border wall, adding that elections are approaching in the United States.

“Our relationship with the government of the United States is good,” said Lopez Obrador, speaking during his regular morning news conference. “We don’t want to fight.”

  1. How about the lying promise that we wouldn’t pay for the wall? WELL, DUH!!!!

  2. Of course you don’t want to fight because you know exactly what your country and the other third world trash heaps have been doing for centuries now. Sending your unwanted and those you can’t afford to big daddy America to be a burden on our economy instead of yours. You also know if it wasn’t for our peaceful freedom loving beliefs we would have annexed you about 150 years ago. Be glad we didn’t have the mentality of every other empire throughout history or you’d merely be part of Texas.

  3. Not surprising that Trump wants to re-energize this winning campaign promise during an election year. His base believes in the wall, the President, and (especially) that they don’t want to have to pay for the wall themselves. I hope Mexico doesn’t declare war–they would only lose and we’d have to pay for their pacification. Compared to that, paying for a wall is a bargain.

    1. Dunno what you’re smoking but I want some. Mexico wouldn’t declare war on us when we were fighting a world war on the other side of the planet. What on the hell makes you even remotely ponder them doing it now?

  4. For years Mexico has encouraged their citizens to illegally cross our borders. And until President Trump got Mexico to stop the flow from other countries they allowed them to cross their borders freely and with help. If he doesn’t want to fight then he needs to clean up the corruption in his country and take his citizens back home. We have had enough.

  5. We don’t want to fight either so handle your immigration problems instead of pushing them onto American soil. You have recently started that and if you need help just ask.

  6. Except that walls come in many forms. Turning his country into a giant, physical chokepoint AND staffed at both borders by the military IS paying for a wall.

    1. That is a fair statement and workable as long as it insures no one enters illegally from Mexico.

    2. Took the words right out of my mouth. Your analysis is accurate and truthful!
