‘A Perfect Example’: Melania Trump Honored as 2020 Woman of Distinction by University in Florida

Palm Beach Atlantic University is honoring U.S. first lady Melania Trump as the Woman of Distinction of 2020.

The university announced the first lady as its 2020 honoree, marking the first time a first lady has garnered the title at the school. Those who are honored are recognized for “charitable leadership of organizations that support the arts, education, healthcare and other community initiatives,” as a university spokesperson told The Hill.

The university is a private Christian university in Florida, and the recognition has been given for just over a quarter of a century to honor “women who cherish community and family and want to preserve these ideals for others,” the website reads. Trump will be honored at the 29th annual Woman of Distinction luncheon, which will be hosted on Feb. 19.

Co-chairwoman of the luncheon Eileen Burns praised Trump in saying the first lady “is an exquisite human being, a magnificent wife and life partner, a superb mother and an outstanding first lady, who represents us brilliantly in the United States and worldwide,” as The Palm Beach Post reported.

Burns added, “Melania is a perfect example of a Woman of Distinction and we are most proud to honor her.”

Additionally, the other co-chairwoman of the luncheon, Frances Fisher, noted how the event will be “truly memorable.”

“First ladies define the history of our country. We are honored to recognize Mrs. Trump as a Woman of Distinction and the only first lady since Mrs. Kennedy to be a Palm Beach resident. This will be a truly memorable event.”

A spokesperson of the university said, “Palm Beach Atlantic’s emphasis on encouraging the potential of each person aligns with Mrs. Trump’s platform as First Lady,” according to The Hill.

  1. A worthy award for Melania—-vs all the BS awards Mooch received (a dog fart human being)

  2. If she were married to a Dem she would be getting honored all over the place and on every mag cover in the nation doing the exact same thing she’s doing right now. Glad we have one private university honoring our FLOTUS. She’s awesome!

    1. LOL…if she was married to a Dem are you saying that R’s would be fine with being a naturalized citizen? That is not what they said about Teresa Heinz when John Kerry was running in 2004. Are you saying that Evangelicals would be okay with a Dem FLOTUS having nude photo magazine covers? They were deeply offended when Michelle Obama was photographed exposing bare arms! Are you saying that a Dem FLOTUS would not be told she should divorce a serial adulterer husband—that was not the case with their vocal and unsolicited advice to Hillary Clinton. Are you saying Evangelicals would be fine with excusing the Access Hollywood tape as “locker room talk”? THAT is a hard sell. I have no problem with Melania. I recognize that she has signed a “NDA,” as was required of all Trump’s wives and is unable to speak negatively about her husband without financial penalty. Everyone is entitled to their own values. I applaud her for not sugar coating it.

  3. Well, which university was it? The Atlantic University in Palm Beach OR the University of Florida in Gainesville? In any case, an honor well placed on a first class First Lady.

    1. I am unfamiliar with the University of Florida in Gainesville ever going by the name of University IN Florida. They did go by the “University of the State of Florida,” but not University IN Florida.
