McEnany Says Trump Has Not Been Briefed on Reports of Russian Bounties

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany is sharing that President Donald Trump has not been briefed on reports that a Russian spy unit offered bounties on American and British soldiers, as of Monday afternoon.

During Monday’s press briefing, McEnany was asked if Trump has a message for Moscow and the press secretary responded, “No, because he has not been briefed on the matter, as I noted.”

She added, “There’s no consensus among the intelligence community and there are, in fact, dissenting opinions.”

The New York Times reported on Friday that the Russian unit had offered bounties on American and British soldiers in the Middle East and that Trump was briefed on that intelligence finding in March. The Washington Post confirmed the Times’ reporting through their sources on Saturday and the existence of the report was confirmed by British officials to Sky News.

Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe said over the weekend that “neither the President nor the Vice President were ever briefed on any intelligence alleged by the New York Times in its reporting.”

Ratcliffe added, “The White House statement addressing this issue earlier today, which denied such a briefing occurred, was accurate. The New York Times reporting, and all other subsequent news reports about such an alleged briefing are inaccurate.”

On Sunday, Trump accused the Times of fabricating its sources, tweeting, “The fake news NYTimes must reveal its ‘anonymous’ source. Bet they can’t do it, this ‘person’ probably does not even exist.”

But the president took a different stance later in the day, tweeting on Sunday evening, “Intel just reported to me that they did not find this info credible, and therefore did not report it to me or [Mike Pence]. Possibly another fabricated Russia hoax.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) slammed Trump on Sunday, saying, “This is as bad as it gets, and yet the president will not confront the Russians on this score, denies being briefed.” McEnany responded by accusing Pelosi of “playing politics.”

  1. Wonder if Hillary and the DNC paid for this article like they paid for Christopher Steele’s dossier.
Wonder how many they will try to squeeze in before the election this time.

  2. Just like the intelligence community that hates Trump not to give him all the facts or leak something to the Press. Of all our Presidents, Trump has kicked butt when a country or group has harmed our military. Now if was Obama, he would have blown it off or sent more troops in harm’s way. He was a real piece of work.

  3. O.K.

WHY has His Majesty not been briefed about this? If there is “no consensus” about whether it is true or not, then start firing security heads until you do find somebody with the whole truth! After all, that’s their JOB!

      1. Might be a couple of reasons….Trump has a habit of going ballistic when anyone tells him something that he disagrees with or puts him in a bad light. I think those around him are afraid. Also he doesn’t read the intel briefings so there’s that. The final could be he’s lying. Time will tell because there’s always a paper trail…

        1. “he doesn’t read the intel briefings” Janice

True, but if he could pull himself away from watching himself on FOX and OANN for two minutes, I am sure that they could find someone to READ it to him.

          1. You just want Trump to get entangled into a war with Russia. You’re not going to get rid of the Greatest President that easy.

          2. Oh, even you don’t believe that piece of shit for brains is the best president that we have ever had. Not even in our lifetime.

His Majesty is a loser without exception. The only thing that he has shown any exceptionalism in is in LYING, especially to suckers like you who believe his every word. You are a fool and I truly hope that you wake up to that fact really soon.

    1. If I were intelligence in the Trump administration, I wouldn’t tell him anything until I was sure of it. Even a more stable personality doesn’t need to hear 95% of what comes through the intel pipelines. A borderline crackpot like Trump would be likely to latch onto raw and underdeveloped reports as an excuse to do something, something dangerous. You remember how Dick Cheney went scouring Langley for raw intel on Saddam Hussein, so we could get our war underway? Virtually everything he came up with was not ready for prime time, was not double checked, was not fit for a great nation to act upon. But Dick didn’t care; Dick wanted his war.

        1. How do you have so much time on your hands to post several times on different stories? Probably taking a rest from your other job…rioter and anarchist.
