Testing Czar Denies Report That the Admin Scrapped a National Coronavirus Testing Plan to Hurt Blue States

There is a report claiming a national coronavirus testing plan was scrapped by the administration to hurt Democratic states, and Assistant Secretary for Health Adm. Brett Giroir has something to say about it.

When asked about the report during a Fox News interview on Friday, Giroir, who leads the nation’s coronavirus testing, responded by calling the report “so preposterous.”

“I have never heard something so preposterous as we’re not going to do a national plan because it’s affecting Democratic states,” he said.

He also said, “We were all working together, there was no separation or no closet Cabinet or no super-secret kind of plans. We all worked together.”

Giroir went on to note that he has talked with leaders in Democratic states “morning, afternoon, and night,” adding that the administration has been working “on everyone’s behalf.”

“We sent resources where they need to be sent,” he continued. “We worked tirelessly, so I would like to put that to rest because I think it’s just… It’s really ridiculous and it just foments mistrust in the public health system when we really do need trust.”

Giroir added, “We are all working for everyone’s benefit.”

See his remarks below:

The Vanity Fair published an article on Thursday, where it reported that the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner’s “team expressed: that because the virus had hit blue states hardest, a national plan was unnecessary and would not make sense politically.”

An expert told Vanity Fair, “The political folks believed that because it was going to be relegated to Democratic states, that they could blame those governors, and that would be an effective political strategy.”

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany also said in a statement in response to the article, “The article consistently misstates and misrepresents. The article is completely incorrect in its assertion that any testing was stopped for political or other reasons.”

  1. “Unless, of course you have ceded Florida, Texas, Georgia, Arizona, and North Carolina to the Dems.” Phyllis

Or, better yet, I Ching stops confusing himself with data from, say, March, maybe April.

  2. General, that was my point. Admiral Giroid was on a different task force, not Jared’s “shadow” group of private sector representatives. The Trump WH being considered a credible source was blown out of the water on Day One! The inaugural crowd was the largest in history. Then we had Trump did not know Stormy Daniels, was unaware of the NDA or payment. We got Trump did not dictate Jr’s “adoption” letter. Tillerson did not call Trump a moron. Flynn was unaware it was against the law to lie to the FBI—that one came within an hour of Flynn testifying under oath that he was aware it was against the law and he did lie to the FBI. No one needs reminded that Trump repeatedly praised China’s “transparency” WHEN has China been transparent on ANYTHING?? VP Pence said the virus would be behind us by Memorial Day. On the day after COVID cases hit record highs in FL, TX, and AZ, Pence said FL, TX, & AZ were “flattening the curve.” Credibility is NOT Trump’s WH’s strong suit.

  3. Screw, Vanity Fair is considered a much more reliable source than Kaleigh McEnany. It did not take her long to earn the same reputation as Spicer, Sanders, and Grisham.
Of the top 10 states with covid cases, 5 are Blue states and 5 are Red–Unless, of course you have ceded Florida, Texas, Georgia, Arizona, and North Carolina to the Dems. Seems to be a bit early for R’s to declare them Blue. npr.org/sections/health-shots/2020/03/16/816707182/map-tracking-the-spread-of-the-coronavirus-in-the-u-s

  4. “The problem is still in the blue states.” Confused Bob The Projectionist

Confused Bob The Projectionist is confused – again.

Here are all of the states with the Trump Virus “problem”. Notice the numbers in the red states as they get filled in during a day. Some of the red states, such as Florida and across the Gulf, are even on our coasts, so you can even use that as a way to denigrate the blue states.

If you are going to lie as often as Dear Leader, learn how to do it more convincingly. (I wouldn’t do that, if I were you…)

  5. Phyllis: the accusation is that somebody stopped Jared’s plan to hurt blue states. Just because the WH and Brett Giroir deny it doesn’t mean that it isn’t true. The WH also made noise stating that all of the named groups were cooperating. The article clearly counters that idea.

With a president and administration that lie as often as they do, it is easy to believe that they are lying here, too. With a president who is as vindictive and petulant as he is, and is in the hole as deep as he is just before an election, it is not hard to believe that he was the one who gave the order to stop Jared’s plan, to hurt struggling blue states. That wouldn’t surprize me in the least.

    1. The only side that lies are you radical left dipsticks who will lie at the drop of a hat. You confuction are one of the worst. Nothing out of your mouth can be accepted as truth. The problem is still in the blue states.

  6. What’s preposterous is that Trump now wants to ramp up testing, after telling his crew to “Slow Down” testing, because the Red states are now reaping their rewards for ignoring the recommended guidelines and going to no mask gatherings. He can’t afford to lose a single vote from his base…

  7. As far as Katrina. They had plenty of warning. Look to the well-documented failures of both Ray Nagin (New Orleans) and LA’s governor Kathleen Blanco.

Both failed to help the most helpless/hapless/stupid. Both Dims.

Let’s also logically examine the morons/useless who stayed vs. those who fled. Party of “Science” meet Darwin. Where does personal responsibility for one’s own life begin?

  8. For those who read the Vanity Fair article, they did not assert that it was the WH Task Force, of which Admiral Giroir is a member. The article claims, as was reported earlier, that Jared’s work was separate from VP Pence’s task force. Jared’s task force was of “private sector” members, claiming that the government could not solve all problems. Jared’s “shadow” task force was reported on in March. At that time, Pence’s press secretary Katie Miller AND Jared are quoted in the Newsweek article on the existence of the separate efforts.

    1. vanity fair, now there is a bastion of liberalism. They surely give us the news with no bias……..NOT!!!

  9. 1. Vanity is such an unimpeachable source.
    2. So what their saying is that Blue states are hotbeds of infection and need more testing.*

*this is actually true. Sources like the NYT and a YALE genetic study have shown the outbreaks in not-Blue states originated from two sources: mostly NY and less so for WA.

Next time let’s have those states locked down, isolated, and travel banned. Funny how 70%+ of FL infections came from NY.

  10. Morte, I am unfamiliar with any weather machine. Bush 43’s Katrina debacle had only to do with his response to the event, not that he directed the hurricane to New Orleans. Bush will forever be remembered for “You’re doing a heck of a job, Brownie.” Just as Trump will be remembered for asking Dr. Birx if they could investigate implanting UV light and injecting disinfectants as a treatment for Covid-19.

    1. The governor of Louisiana and the mayor of New Orleans were a couple of asswipes. They took the money (over the years) given them by the feds to rework their dikes (much of it is below sea level) to keep flood waters out. They spent the money on giving out freebies instead. Result because of the liberal incompetence, destruction of a large part of the city.

  11. So why wasn’t there a follow up question?
So why do we still not have a National Testing Plan?

He said: ““The article consistently misstates and misrepresents. The article is completely incorrect in its assertion that any testing was stopped for political or other reasons.””

Obviously there is a reason. Unless it’s just absolute incomptence, but that’s still a reason.

  12. If y’all are confused and need help understanding what this story is all about, here is the original evidence.

  13. Well what did folks expect, after all DJT used the weather machine passed onto him by Bush43 to send those Hurricane to only harm black and brown people!

MASSIVE EYE ROLL if my sarcasm was not evident I am forced to question the readers intelligence.
