Crenshaw Blasts Biden for Suggesting ‘a Wall Will Not Stop the Coronavirus’ in Criticism of Trump

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) is blasting former Vice President Joe Biden for his tweet criticizing President Donald Trump’s counter-coronavirus efforts.

“A wall will not stop the coronavirus,” Biden tweeted.

Biden tweeted on Thursday about Trump’s wall and travel ban announced in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

“Banning all travel from Europe — or any other part of the world — will not stop it,” he added. “This disease could impact every nation and any person on the planet — and we need a plan to combat it.”

Crenshaw took to Twitter late Thursday with a response to Biden’s tweet.

The Texas congressman argued two points in support of the president’s efforts. He offered an example of how walls can make a difference and why the travel ban makes sense.

“First, walls quite literally stop a virus,” Crenshaw tweeted. “It’s kind of the whole point of a quarantine, for instance.”

“Second, assuming you meant this metaphorically, health experts like Dr. Fauci and everyone else agree travel restrictions have vastly slowed the spread of the virus in the US,” he continued.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has been a key player in the Trump administration’s Coronavirus Task Force headed by Vice President Mike Pence.

While travel bans may not completely halt the spread of the virus, Dr. Fauci has noted that restricting travel and avoiding large gatherings has shown to slow the spread of the virus.

The latest news follows multiple reports about Trump’s response efforts to decrease the spread of the coronavirus. On Wednesday, Trump held an Oval Office speech announcing 30-day travel restrictions from several European countries. The decision has been met with opposition.

While Biden insists Trump’s wall won’t stop the virus, ironically, Mexicans south of the border are wondering if it could, as IJR reported.

For years, many Tijuana residents have crossed the borders into California commuting back and forth for work and school. However, residents are now apprehensive about the commute fearing they could cause the virus to spread.

Based on statistics, the number of reported coronavirus cases are significantly lower in Mexico.

Responses

  1. Now is not the time to critique Trump’s poor initial response BUT it is also NOT the time to praise it. So Crenshaw’s comments necessitate a response.
The COVID-19 virus was identified in China in Dec, 2019. Trump’s travel ban of China came Feb 4th and it was a partial ban, not a complete ban—January 31st, FOUR DAYS EARLIER, Italy issued a COMPLETE BAN, travelers and cargo, and as we can plainly see, NEITHER TRAVEL BAN was effective in eliminating the spread of the virus.
NOW is the time to convince Trump to forgo his war on the media, Deep State, Science, and non-members of the cult. —The MEDIA was right, TRUMP and FOX were wrong. Address the virus and the needs of the ENTIRE country and campaign after it is under control. Everyone that has a Trump loyalist Rep and Senator should be contacting them to encourage Trump to either take the situation seriously or shut-up.

  2. Is it just me or does Joe look really bad, hairplugs aside? He’s not aging well nor is his brain.

That aside, Joe is an idiot. Walls keep this things called “unvetted carriers” from coming into the populace. q.v. medieval quarantines during the Black Death.

If Joe REALLY feels this way AND about open borders he should sponsor an asylum family to live with him. But he will never do so, just like Bernie will never surrender a single dollar or one his houses because “income inequality”.

    Yeah, that’s hypocrisy in action.

    1. “Is it just me or does Joe look really bad” I Ching

      I am confused.

Have you actually looked at King Donald The Loser? I mean carefully.

      1. Obviously you haven’t examined the sypmptoms associated with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Joe LOOKS his age. Notice the wrinkles , pallor, and general physical decline. All symptomatic. Despite his berating a potential voter I’ll bet Joe cannot do ten pushups, let alone Burpees.

      2. Betcha Trump can quote the first sentence of The Declaration of Independence and, ALSO, knows what day of the week it is? Can’t say the same biden his time in the spotlight.

        1. I’ll take that bet, ban. With Trump’s history, you can’t be certain he could READ the first sentence of the Declaration of Independence FROM the teleprompter!
Can you bet that Trump knew there were not airports during the Revolutionary War? That Trump would tell Modi that China and India DON”T share a border? That Trump knew a Rose Garden celebration of Repeal and Replace Obamacare in ONE chamber of Congress was a victory? During a visit to victims of the Dayton Ohio shooting, Trump thought he was in Toledo, Ohio. Trump congratulated the residents of Kansas after Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl. Trump thought he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize for staging a photo-op with Kim Jung Un. Trump is either an idiot or he is lying when he says Mexico is paying for the “wall” and China is paying the import tariffs. Seriously, if you want to compare ANYONE to Trump, take some Prevagen so you remember even a few of the wacky things you have witnessed over the last 3 years. Always remember that Trump told you Hillary was corrupt—but which one settled a $22 million lawsuit for fraud after the election? Which one was fined $2 million for stealing from his own charity? Which one has had 5 members of his campaign sentenced to prison? Get a grip on reality, ban. I would take Biden over Trump every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

          1. “I would take Biden over Trump every day of the week and twice on Sundays.” Says all we need to know about you, philly. You REALLY needs to get a grip?

    2. Screw, If you wish to point out the hypocrisy of others. evaluate your own self-awareness. In what world does opposition of spending $80 billion for an ineffective barrier equate to “open borders.” Wanting 21st century technology at the border is hardly “open border.”
Did you seriously perceive Trump’s brain was working well during the press briefing today??
