Biden Campaign Manager Rips Trump for Holding Rallies Again: ‘People Will Die’

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign manager, Jennifer O’Malley Dillon, is blasting President Donald Trump for resuming in-door campaign rallies.

During an interview with Politico’s “Playbook” on Tuesday, O’Malley Dillon noted that the Biden campaign has committed to traveling “as long as it is safe” for him to travel — not just for the former vice president but also for his supporters.

She contrasted that with Trump’s decision to resume in-door rallies and noted that he held “two in-door rallies this week … which are super spreaders.”

“I was horrified to see the pictures from last night,” she said of a picture of roughly 100 Trump supporters in an Arizona ballroom without masks. “People will die because of these types of events, and that’s from the President of the United States.”

Additionally, she took aim a White House signing ceremony on Tuesday and called it “another day-after-day episode showing the fact that the president of the United States is taking guidelines from medical experts about what to do in a pandemic to stay safe and help make sure your colleagues and neighbors are safe, and not executing it … at the White House.”

She also claimed that Trump continues to “suggest we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic.”

O’Malley Dillon is not the only one to voice concern about the fact that the president has resumed in-person rallies. Former Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg also ripped the president for holding rallies in the midst of a pandemic, as IJR reported.

“The main thing that strikes me about the way he packs his supporters indoors sometimes and, you know, you heard someone asked him about whether he was concerned about transmission of disease. He said, ‘Well, they’re far enough away from me.’ It’s how little respect he has for his own people,” he said during an appearance on ABC’s “The View” on Tuesday.

The Associated Press sparked concern over the safety protocols in place at Trump rallies after it reported that only rally-goers who in the stands behind Trump and seen on TV were mandated to wear masks.

Pictures on social media appeared to show that for the rest of the rally-goers, masks-wearing was not well observed.

For his part, Trump said he was not concerned about catching the virus because “I’m on a stage, and it’s very far away.”
